At salvation, we died to sin and we are raised to live a new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-8).
In baptism, we are fully immersed under the water, which paints a picture of our old life being buried with Christ. As we come up out of the water, there is a sense of victory, a celebration of our new life (2 Corinthians 5:17), and a reminder that Jesus rose from the dead before us.
